Are you a seasoned finance professional with over 10 years of experience in the financial sector and a university degree? We are looking for a dynamic Senior Controller to join our team in Amsterdam and drive financial excellence across our operations in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Italy.
In this role, you will oversee statutory financial activities, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations, and providing financial guidance to support Saxo’s business objectives. Your expertise in accurate accounting, regulatory compliance, and insightful financial reporting will enable our business units to make timely and informed decisions, enhancing operational efficiency and strategic alignment.
You will work closely with finance colleagues across various countries and our HQ in Denmark, fostering collaboration and sparring within our global finance team. As a vital part of this team, you will support and challenge decisions to drive Saxo’s growth and development. Our finance team is dedicated to strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations, working together to propel the business forward.

Responsibilities
Financial Management:
- Oversee local financial statements, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Direct monthly, semi-annual, and annual financial closings, maintaining reporting integrity.
- Implement and monitor internal controls, system reconciliations, and reporting activities.
- Ensure accurate month-end reconciliations.
- Manage general ledger accounting, accounts payable/receivables, and payments.
- Cashflow-management
- Handle the Month-End Close runbook.
- Coordinate audits for NL (Group) and BE.
- Manage relationships with outsourced service providers and coordinate with external accounting offices in India, Belgium, France and Italy
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, local GAAP, and regulations.
- Coordinate audits and address findings.
- Manage tax filings and payments, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Draft and compile reports for the board (local and group).
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on regulatory reporting for the Netherlands (FINREP, BSI), Belgium (Schema A), France (RUBA), and group reporting.
Stakeholder Engagement and Change Management:
- Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Liaise with auditors, regulatory bodies, and other external parties.
- Ensure smooth transitions during mergers, acquisitions, or restructurings.
- Support the integration of new business units or systems.
- Facilitate stakeholder buy-in and manage expectations during change processes.
- Implement strategies to minimize disruption and ensure continuity during changes.
- Participate in organization-wide cross-functional projects and new business cases.
Your profile
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Controller with a postgraduate RA qualification, passionate about driving financial excellence across the organization. You thrive in being close to the business and bring a curious, business-driven, and proactive mindset to your work. Ideally, you have over 10 years of relevant experience in the financial sector, working closely with the business – either directly in finance functions or as a trusted advisor in other relevant settings.
Fluency in English is essential as it is our corporate language, and you will need to have a valid work permit to work in The Netherlands.
