Business Controller for Group Staff Departments
You will be part of Group Finance MA team supporting corporate staff departments on all financial matters, in close cooperation with global cost management team of Group Finance as well as other MA and FA colleagues.
The Business Controller for Corporate Staff supports ING's Senior Management on both tactical and strategic level. As part of Group Finance, you and your team are responsible for all control activities related to the number of Corporate Staff departments. A challenging position that places high demands on both your analytical skills and your social skills. You are in direct contact with C-level executives. You collect the information, make analyses and present your findings.
As a good Finance Business Partner you prepare budgets, make forecasts and support business cases. But above all you are a committed sparring partner. You know exactly what's going on. You think along and anticipate things. You are able to intervene and adjust where necessary, based on your knowledge and expertise.
In this specific role, you are also responsible for standardizing and automating a number of management accounting and reporting processes as well as senior management reports and dashboards. You contribute to the set-up and implementation of various cost models, including service level allocation processes using Gateway principles. Accordingly, together with other team members, you streamline management accounting and reporting practices to enable continuous improvement in finance and business advice processes.
Responsibilities
- Sparring partner for senior management in strategic and tactical decision making
- Provide reports and analysis in a timely manner to support management decisions
- Advise on all matters concerning operational efficiency, cost modelling, allocation, financial planning and control
- Prepare Dynamic Plan / budget with the dept's, including both Baseline activities and Change initiatives
- Follow cost trends and adjust Rolling Forecast periodically
- Perform run-rate analysis, advise on cost efficiency opportunities and prepare business cases for Change programs
- Reporting and analysis (vs. Plan) of Actual spend using standard dashboards and other tools
- Full control of costs (P&L) and FTEs, including the review & approval of requisitions, cost charging and analytical review
- Monitor the maintenance and optimization of general ledger, i.e. review cost trends, calculate accruals, prepare manual adjustments
- Maintain effective management of MA data-sources and monitor implementation of org. structure changes (i.e. Info Memos, RFAs)
- Review and advise on Balance Sheet positions, including restructuring and litigation provisions, asset capitalization, amortization and impairment testing as/when required
- Support CSDs in determining cost allocation model, service level charging initiatives and effective location strategy where necessary

Furthermore, you have:
- University (Bachelor’s/Master’s) degree
- 3-6 years of professional working experience in a relevant position such as Finance Business Partner, Finance Business Partner, Business controller, or compatible
- Strong analytical skills
- IFRS and Power BI experience is beneficial
- Track record in a complex environment
- Organizational sensitivity and effective conflict management skills
- Proven stakeholder management skills with strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with all levels of management
- A pro-active attitude and ability to operate in a demanding and changing environment, naturally curious and able to think several steps ahead
