In this job, your proactive and forward-looking analysis leads to new initiatives and decision making achieving significant improvement in business results. You achieve this by providing new eye-catching insights as a Business Controller and acting as sparring partner with various stakeholders. High Tech, High Touch, that is the aim of CFO.

Practical Examples
- You analyse and identify areas in Wholesale Banking which our MT-members in the Europe, Africa & Asia region can take action to improve top or bottom line results;
- You thrive on change and see improvements where ever you look; you are driving performance improvements, mostly commercially but also operationally in the bank;
- You know when to zoom in, and when to zoom out. You can work on strategic topics and at the same time you feel comfortable to work on day-to-day operational problem solving;
- You connect people and give a personal touch to your advice and thereby create impact within and outside the CFO domain.
Top responsibilities
The role is focused on developing and mastering the full suite of business control activities:
- Servicing our business line Project Finance for all business control activities (e.g. reporting, planning, forecasting), where you will be supported by a Senior Business Controller.
- Supporting in the management reporting of our largest lending business line (Corporate Lending) and controlling our client coverage team for Financial Sponsors.
- Participate in Medium Term Plan (MTP) and Detailed Level Budget (DLB) activities.
- Engage in change activities, for example: reduce our cost to serve or improve the operational processes that boost the quality and speed of availability of our numbers.
- Cooperating in performance reporting to the management team of Europe, Africa & Asia. With your business control team colleagues you’ll contribute to providing insights in relevant trends and possible improvement initiatives.

The Business Control EAA team is part of the Wholesale Europe, Africa & Asia region, reporting to the CFO EAA and located mostly in Utrecht. This region covers all Wholesale clusters / product lines (Core lending, Structured Lending, Markets, Advisory & Investments), including regional support and the branch network and with a focus on the client franchises and wholesale lending activities. The EAA loan book totals around 60bn of assets, driving well over half of Rabobank’s global Wholesale performance.
The extended business control team consists of twelve business controllers who are responsible for managing the financial planning & analysis process in the region, of which six are based in Utrecht. Furthermore control provides analyses, benchmarking, scenario analyses etc. to provide insights and robust challenge that drive the strategy, business decisions and In Control-process of the region. The team is also responsible for controlling the execution of initiatives and projects, the performance on the KPIs and the control of the usage of resources such as costs and capital. Lastly the team supports the business in developing new growth opportunities, for example in the Energy and Food Transitions.

You and your talent
Customer focus, communication power, personal development and realising results are clearly essential for the role of Business Controller. In addition, it's important that you recognise yourself in the checklist below:
- A completed university education with a numerical or strategic focus;
- You are an energetic self-starter with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience in an analytical role; experience in management/strategy consultancy is a plus;
- You want to learn quickly and have a (personal) growth mindset;
- You are able to solve unclearly defined problems under complex and constantly changing circumstances based on a data-driven analysis;
- Ability to connect with guts, persuasion and change power, social and empathic;
- You have skills and/or a strong interest in tooling such as PowerBI and Excel.
- To be considered for this position, you must be located in the Netherlands and have the legal right to work in the Netherlands.
