Within Engineering & Operational Solutions (EOS) we deliver business value to AkzoNobel and external customers in the areas of capital investment projects and operational support. Our ambition is to be the preferred technology partner for all business units in realizing capital investments in new assets and in improving their existing operations and facilities. At the same time we want to contribute to Akzo Nobel’s ambition to produce less waste and emissions, reduce water and energy consumption and improve safety performance. We offer services based on a broad spectrum of expertise, like project management, design, operational solutions, process technology, and capex purchasing. EOS consists of about 190 highly skilled technical professionals, of which 160 in the Netherlands and the remainder in China and the US.
The FCA department is based in Arnhem and consists of 6 employees, providing all financial controlling and project accounting activities for EOS world-wide. We advise project managers on all financial issues (budget control, project management of investment projects), play a role in the quotation process and provide the EOS MT with accurate and up-to-date financial information.
In this department we have currently a vacancy for a project controller.
Responsibility
- Act as sparring partner for the project managers (and possibly engineering and purchasing departments) in EOS for project accounting and controlling matters, e.g. by observing developments, analyzing progress and deviations from budgets, providing project managers with timely analysis and advice and preparing cost analysis reports
- Monitor and analyze actual project performance and report with respect to budget, scope and timing, e.g. by developing a project dashboard
- Analyze project performance per project activity and sub-discipline in order to determine best practices and lessons learnt which can be used for future projects
- Perform investment project accounting activities (like opening/closing of projects, setting up project administration, entering budgets, bookings and purchase orders, monitoring changes to project orders and billing to customers)
- Prepare the financial sections of project status reports
- Identify opportunities and realize subsidy potential for (investment) projects and coordinate subsidies (e.g. WBSO) within EOS
- Take initiatives to improve the efficiency and modernize current work practices like invoicing and project management
- Act as project member in improvement projects (e.g. succession of project management system, globalization of the controlling activities)
- Act as backup for sales controlling, financial closing or reporting activities and support other FCA colleagues in case of varying workload
Job requirements / Candidate profile
- Minimum bachelor degree in business administration, economics, finance or accounting
- At least 3 years experience in a controlling or accounting role, preferably in a project management environment
- Hands on, proactive and problem solving attitude
- Excellent Excel skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Preferably experience with SAP, PMS, Hyperion and affinity with automation
- Fluent in Dutch and English language
